What is ANZAC ?
ANZAC day is a day we commemorate the soldiers who sacrificed their lives and people who fought in war.
ANZAC stands for Australia New Zealand army corps.
What happened?
They fought for eight months.
They trained at Egypt and got there weapons there.
they landed at Gallipoli on the 25 April 1915s Unfortunately they got the wrong beach and lot of ANZAC died 87,000 Turks died too some survived.
POppies
After the war ended the poppies started to grow on the battle field in Belgium after the war.
First poppies to be made were in 1921.
They arrived at New zealand late and thats why we celebrate ANZAC day on 25 April but in Britain it is on Armistice day 11 November 11 am.
